Job Summary

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our team in the San Francisco or Los Angeles offices. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, thinking creatively, and taking ownership of technology and data initiatives in a supportive environment. You do not need to have law firm experience, although familiarity with professional services or consulting environments is a plus.

You will be responsible for managing and strengthening the firm’s technology systems and for helping us extract meaningful insights from our operational, financial, and practice-related data. You’ll work closely with leadership as well as attorneys and administrative team members, ensuring that our data analysis efforts run smoothly on a day-to-day basis while also contributing to longer-term data strategy and improvements. You should be a self-motivated, highly detail-oriented team player excited to tackle firm challenges to strategize and implement data-driven solutions to enable the business to derive valuable insights.

What You’ll be Doing

• Review and help build complex data sets and create meaningful analytics (through visuals, statistical analysis, or as marketing points) with Excel and data visualization tools such as Power BI

• Prepare guides and actively advise members of the firm on best practices regarding data management and recommend services as best fit

• Work with the Partners to custom design and maintain the firm’s workflow management software (Clio) in order to effectively collect and track data, work streams and productivity

• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and metrics to support financial analysis, matter management, and internal planning

• Clean, structure, and analyze data from multiple sources to help clients and the firm identify market trends and opportunities

• Recommend and implement improvements to workflows, systems, and data processes

• Ensure data security best practices and assist in compliance initiatives

• Oversee and maintain the firm’s data retention policies, data segregation and ethical walls and backups, including iManage file organization

• Assist with responding to client audits, RFP’s and SLA compliance

• Other job-related duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree

• 3+ years of experience in systems administration, and/or technical troubleshooting

• Strong competency with Excel, Power BI and other analytics tools used to work with data

• CLIO and iManage experience helpful, but not necessary. These are the two primary software platforms in use by the firm.

• Interest in law, data work, puzzles, or fixing problems

• Strong written communication skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, prioritize multiple projects on a daily basis, and adjust to shifting priorities

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a professional manner

Where and Hours You Will Work

This is a full-time position. While Atheria supports flexible working arrangements, including remote work, this role will require more in-person attendance. Therefore, you should be able to work in our San Francisco or Los Angeles office, depending on your location, during regular business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. While you are welcome to come into the office on Fridays, most of our employees choose to work remotely on Fridays. Furthermore, it may be possible to request additional remote days after training is completed and with supervisor approval. This position may require travel between our San Francisco and Los Angeles offices and occasional after-hours for special projects.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers. The employee must be able to physically manipulate documents and occasionally lift up equipment (up to 40 pounds) as is necessary. The employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to experience level, education/training, and relevant skills. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance-based bonus program.
