Atheria Law’s Christina Terplan Featured in the Mid-Market Report

Law.com’s Mid-Market Report, published June 27, 2025, features Christina Terplan, founding partner and president of Atheria Law, who shares insights into how the firm is navigating a changing legal landscape shaped by technology, evolving client expectations, and a new generation of legal talent. In the Q&A, Terplan discusses the firm’s strategic focus on AI-related risks, cybersecurity, and data-driven insights that enhance client service beyond traditional legal outcomes.

When asked about Atheria’s biggest opportunities and threats, Terplan highlighted the transformative role of artificial intelligence, which “offers incredible opportunities for efficiency, innovation, and client service,” but also “presents a myriad of risks.” She added, “There is an evolving area of law related to liability for AI and insurance coverage for these risks.”

She also pointed to data as a key area of opportunity. “We work with many institutional clients who retain us for dozens of matters a year. By aggregating and analyzing data across the matters we work on for a client, we’re able to provide not just legal outcomes but strategic insights—trends, risks, and metrics that can help our client make better business decisions,” she explained.

Terplan emphasized that Atheria’s success lies in building strong client relationships, offering flexible and customized service, and fostering a culture where attorneys and staff are empowered to innovate. The firm’s client-centric team model and use of case management data reflect Atheria’s forward-thinking approach. According to Terplan, data provides “insights across matters including trends, outcomes, and even preferences in how clients like information presented, adding real value beyond the day-to-day legal work.”

Speaking on talent development, Terplan underscored the cultural advantages of being a mid-size firm. “We’re able to create a values-driven environment that is genuine and resonates with younger attorneys, especially Gen Z grads, who want purpose, flexibility, and real connection,” she said.

On the topic of succession planning, she described Atheria’s thoughtful approach to preparing the next generation of leaders through intentional knowledge transfer and collaborative planning: “True succession is about continuity, trust, and building on a strong foundation.”
